Are Beats Studio 3 Headphones Waterproof?

Beats Studio 3 headphones aren’t waterproof.

It’s not just a Beats thing.

Most premium-branded over-ear headphones including Bose and Sony aren’t either.

It’s not to say that getting caught in a little bit of rain is going to ruin them or if you spill a small amount of water on them that they’ll suddenly stop working, but it does mean you need to be careful.

Beats Studio 3 Headphones don’t have an IPX rating and moisture damage isn’t covered by a Beats warranty.  Getting them wet could, therefore, turn into an expensive mistake.

Are Beats Studio 3 Headphones Sweat-Resistant?

No.  Beats Studio3 headphones aren’t sweat-resistant but that doesn’t mean you can’t wear them to the gym or out on a run.

You just need to add a moisture-resistant cover.

Earhugz are sweat-resistant headphone covers that can be added to Beats Studio3 headphones to protect against moisture-damage, sweat and makeup stains.

The Ultra-Stretch, MAX-DRI™ + Machine Washable fabric means that sweat is wicked away from your Beats cushions protecting the internal working components of your headphone and it keeps  them looking and smelling fresh.

EarHugz comes in 2 sizes and for over-ear headphones we’d recommend picking the large size.  You can check the sizing guide by following this link.

The great thing about adding covers to your headphones is that it allows you to take full advantage of the headphones you’ve bought.

Nobody wants to have to leave their top-range cans at home because they’re worried about damage.

You should be able to enjoy all the fantastic features of your Studio3’s without having to choose between wrecking them or leaving them in your gym locker.

As the Studio3’s have active-noise cancelling included, then they’re a great addition to an open-office, helping you to concentrate for longer periods whenever there’s a lot of ambient sound.

They’re also great for any long journeys you may have to take.

What Happens if I Sweat Regularly into my Beats Studio3s?

Uh-uh, nothing good.

Moisture damage can lead to cracking and peeling of the cushions.  You’ll notice some of the fake-leather rubbing away in small black flakes and this will worsen into full-blown peeling.  This not only looks ugly but it also means that they’ll be pretty uncomfortable to wear. You may notice an unpleasant smell, too.  This is because sweat has been allowed to collect on the surface of the earpad and then has seeped inside the cushion.

You didn’t pay £200+ to end up with unsightly and uncomfortable cushions. That’s why it’s so important to add sweat-resistant covers if you plan on exercising in headphones.

Are Any Other Beats Headphones Waterproof?

Beats doesn’t make waterproof on-ear or over-ear headphones, but its PowerBeats Pro earphones are both sweat and water-resistant with an IPX rating of 4.  This means you should have no problem exercising in them.

Just don’t forget to take them out before you head into the sauna.  And also note, that the case they come in is neither water nor sweat-resistant.

If you’re willing to wear in-ear headphones, then the PowerBeats Pro earphones are a good option.  Not everyone can wear earphones, however, so it’s good to bear in mind that adding moisture-resistance covers to headphone cushions is still the best option for a lot of people.

Beats Studio3 headphones may not have been designed to be worn in the gym or during exercise, but with EarHugz you can make them the perfect pair to workout in.

And even if you don’t own any Studio3s, don’t forget that these covers fit a wide range of brands.
